FAQ

Q Additive products (fuel and fluids) have a poor reputation.  Is there anything different about your products?

A.   There are over 55,000 products.  Over 5,000 are registered (not approved) by the FTC.  It is a daunting task for the serious fleet or service manager to sort through all the hype.

Any product needs to meet (prove) 2 important criteria.  Safety and Performance.  There are a number of recognized tests (SAE and ASTM) which prove a product is completely safe for use.  Those tests are different of course for fuel economy vs lubrication products for example.

Same with performance.  For fuel economy testing experts rely on the J1321 test as the benchmark.  There are other qualifying tests as well.   On the road and in the field testing from credible companies should corroborate the laboratory testing.

Yes, you as a busy fleet manager can quickly identify those products which have spent the money to prove their products are safe and increase performance.   Demand to see the independent test results.  That is the first step.

QWhy would any additives be needed for today’s excellent engines, gear boxes, transmissions and the wide variety of lubricants, fluids and fuels?

A.  Great Question.  Today’s equipment IS excellent. Very efficient.  Each area must be discussed separately.

With combustion:   the opportunity for improvement lies in not improving the engine but helping the fuel to more completely burn.  This has been proven in numerous tests with our product Clean Boost including the J1321 conducted at Southwest Research and other notable labs.  This testing combined with results from large, well managed fleets will give you good insights on what kind of results are reasonable and possible.

Oil analysis on these engines shows less soot in the oil also proving the more complete fuel burn.

Fuel mileage studies at large fleets over years and thousands of trucks proved significant increased fuel economy.

Today’s lubricants are excellent also, but lubrication too can be improved on.

With lubrication:  Even the best synthetic lubricants (which are very good) can be made significantly better.  This has been proven in the labs, under numerous tests and in the field under the most demanding conditions including racing.  Fluid analysis proves significant reductions in wear, chemical and thermal breakdown of the oil.  This relates to longer equipment life, more reliability, lower costs.  We have many examples from a wide variety of end users to share with you.

QThe big companies have thousands of the best minds and resources.  Wouldn't  they would have all the best products?

A.  We have worked at and for big companies and can give you a valuable insight into this question.

YES... huge companies have large staffs, budgets and capabilities.  However…many big companies also buy great ideas and products from smaller companies who developed them.  So, not all the best research and development is done exclusively at huge companies.

There is another very important reason.  Large companies have many advantages and also disadvantages.  Simply a result of their size.  By the time the large companies would try to put our primary products (Clean Boost and Mettle Plus) into their business models… the math may no longer work.  In other words, the products become too expensive for you, the end user.  This is NOT a condemnation but a reality of business.

DWG is structured to deliver these product to you, the end user, in the most efficient way possible.  It is explained here.

Products of the quality we sell are expensive to manufacture, blend.  To make it work for everyone  (your ROI) the distribution costs must be minimal.  This is what DWG working with Combustion USA does best.

We are all indebted to large companies and how they serve us, but also to smaller companies like DWG.

Both are needed.
